Why Does My Google Business Profile Video Verification Keep Getting Rejected?
Most rejections come down to three gaps: Google can't confirm where you are, can't see that the business exists, or can't see that you manage it. Often the profile setup is wrong before you even press record.

You're not alone
In our review of public threads (Reddit, Google's Business Profile Help Community and the Local Search Forum, February 2024 to September 2026), about 35 owners described the same loop: film, upload, rejected, often with no clear reason. Home-based and service-area businesses come up most.
What Google asks for
Google's video verification page says the recording must be unedited, unique and complete with no breaks, at least 30 seconds long, and recorded and uploaded from a mobile device through your Business Profile. What you need to show depends on whether you're a storefront, a service-area business or a hybrid.
The setup problems that fail before you film
- Service-area business showing an address. Google's guidelines say businesses that serve customers at their locations, like a plumber working from home, should clear the address from the profile.
- Showing an address with no permanent sign. Google says businesses that show their address should have permanent, fixed signage with the business name at that address. If you don't have a storefront with signage and you travel to customers, you're allowed a service-area profile instead.
- Online-only business or virtual office. Google says you can have a profile if customers can visit your location or you travel to them. A rented mailing address you don't operate from isn't eligible.
- Filming from the wrong account or with location off. Record through the Business Profile on the phone signed in to the owner or manager account.
The filming problems
- No clear location. Start at a street sign or building number and walk to your business without cutting.
- Business name not visible. Show your sign, vehicle wrap or a document with the exact profile name.
- No proof you manage it. Unlock a door, vehicle or register on camera.
Before you try again
- Fix the setup issues above first.
- Delete old verification videos under Business Profile settings, Advanced settings, Video uploads. Google lets you delete them anytime.
- Plan your shots in order so you can do it in one continuous take.
What Should I Show in a Google Business Profile Verification Video?
Show three things in one unedited take of at least 30 seconds: where you are, that the business is real, and that you're the one who runs it. Plan the order before you press record.
Google's ground rules
- One continuous recording, unedited, with no breaks.
- At least 30 seconds.
- Recorded and uploaded from a mobile device through your Business Profile.
Shot order for a storefront
- Street sign or building number, held long enough to read.
- A nearby business or landmark, if there is one.
- Your permanent sign with the exact name on your profile.
- Unlock the door and walk in.
- Inside: products, equipment or your workspace.
- Proof you manage it: open the register or a staff-only area.
- A document with the business name, with any account or ID numbers covered.
Shot order for a service-area or home-based business
- Street sign or building number near where you keep your gear.
- Your branded vehicle, if you have one, showing the business name.
- Unlock the vehicle and show the tools of your trade.
- Branded items: uniforms, cards, marketing materials.
- A document with the business name, such as a license or invoice.
Don'ts
- Don't cut, edit or upload a pre-recorded file.
- Don't show faces, or bank, tax or ID numbers.
- Don't change your business name, address or category while you wait for review.
FAQ
How many times can I retry video verification?
Google doesn't publish a limit. Owners report several attempts, so fix the setup before each new try rather than refilming the same video.
Why don't I get a reason for the rejection?
Owners often report vague or no reasons. Cover all three areas (location, business exists, management) in every video so nothing is missing.
Can someone else film it for me?
It must be recorded through the Business Profile on a mobile device signed in to an account that manages the profile.
Sources
Do I need to narrate the video?
No. Let the footage show the details clearly.
I have no sign and work from home. Can I still verify?
Yes, as a service-area business with the address hidden. Lean on your vehicle, tools, branded items and documents.
How long should the video be?
At least 30 seconds, per Google. Long enough to show all three areas without rushing.
Film it once, not five times.
