What Happens to My Google Profile When I Move a Location?

Update the address on your existing Google Business Profile instead of creating a new one, so you keep your reviews and history. Address edits go through Google's review; most show within minutes, some take up to 30 days. Then update every other listing to match.

Edit, don't duplicate

Google's guidelines say not to create more than one profile for a location. When the same business moves, edit the address on the profile you already have.

1. Go to your Business Profile and select Edit profile, then Location.
2. Edit the business location and enter the new address.
3. Adjust the pin if the map shows the wrong spot.
4. Save.

How long it takes

Google says profile changes usually take about 10 minutes to show up, but in some cases can take up to 30 days. Address changes are significant edits, so plan the change around your move date and check that it went live.

Before and after the move

• Make sure the new location meets Google's address rules: real signage, staffed during business hours, not a virtual office.
• Update your website, Apple Business, Bing Places, Yelp and industry directories on the same day.
• Update your website's structured data with the new address and coordinates.
• Post an update on your profile so customers see the news.

When it's not really a move
